Summary
This Hawaiian-endemic Goodeniaceae shrub or tree grows to 150–350 cm and has short-petioled, lanceolate leaves with margins usually sparsely dentate from the apex to mid-length. Flowers are arranged in terminal panicles with 1–3 blooms in each leaf axil at twig ends; calyx very short; corolla tube 12–17 mm; corolla lobes 8–15 mm, elongated and wavy; white with purple veins and a purplish exterior. Fruits are oval drupes 5–7 mm long and 3–5 mm wide, maturing to dark purplish-black.
Native to the Hawaiian Islands, it occurs in wet forest habitats at elevations of 600–1400 m and is found only on Kauai and Molokai.
