A member of the Geranium genus in the Geraniaceae family, native to central and southern Chile and Argentina, a tuberous geophyte with red five-petaled flowers about 70 cm tall, grown for ornamental value and adaptable to habitats from low valleys to coastal mountains, described in 1832 with type material from Quillota, Chile.
