Chrysopsis mariana, commonly Maryland golden-aster, is an eastern United States native perennial in the Asteraceae that grows about 1–2 feet tall and 1–2 feet wide, forming upright clumps with basal, lance-shaped hairy leaves and bright yellow daisy-like flowers that bloom from late summer to fall, for cultivation it prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils, including sandy or rocky substrates, and is drought-tolerant once established, propagation is by seeds or division, and it tends to reseed to persist, hardy in USDA zones 4–9, it is deer resistant and attracts pollinators, providing late-season nectar for butterflies and bees, suitable for wildflower beds, rock gardens, borders, meadows, and other sunny landscapes.
