Summary

Rudbeckia triloba, commonly called brown-eyed Susan or three-lobed coneflower, is a native North American biennial or short lived perennial that forms clumps with upright, multi branched stems reaching 2-5 ft tall and 2-3 ft wide, flowers are yellow daisies 1-2 inches across with dark brown centers, and green basal leaves are three-lobed with a basal rosette that persists through winter, it grows best in full sun to partial shade in average, moist, well drained soils, tolerating heat and some drought, easily grown from seed and self seeds readily, naturalizing in borders, wildflower meadows, prairie plantings, cottage gardens, and other naturalized areas, forms a good cut flower, attracts butterflies and bees, and is deer resistant, deadheading can extend blooming, though powdery mildew may occur
