Mexican peace lily is a tropical evergreen herb native to southern Mexico, with broad glossy dark green leaves in a dense upright clump and long-lasting white blooms with yellow spadices; reaching about 2.5–3 ft tall and 2.5 ft wide, the flowers are good for cutting, and it is also known as White Sails or Spathe Flower.
Cultivation favors bright indirect or strong artificial light and rich, acidic soil with average to moist conditions; keep surface soil from drying out completely and water about once to twice weekly; propagation by root division; commonly grown as a houseplant and valued for ornamental indoor use and air-purifying qualities that remove benzene and ammonia; it is toxic if ingested; hardiness zones 10a–11b.
