Summary

Native to the Canary Islands, Tree of Love is an indoor succulent with a dwarf-tree appearance, featuring heart-shaped leaves arranged in rosettes at branch tips and branched clusters of star-shaped yellow flowers that bloom in late spring.

Bright light with some direct sun is preferred, with shelter from intense heat; warm conditions and flowering with temperatures above 13°C; growth in well-draining soil (sandy/loamy/cactus mix) using a soak-and-dry watering regime, letting the top 2 inches dry between waterings, and reduced watering during winter rest; fertilize every two weeks during active growth and skip fertilizer during rest; propagate via tip cuttings 8–10 cm (3–4 in) long, rooting in 3–4 weeks; repot every 1–2 years in spring; commonly grown as a houseplant and suitable for xeriscaping/rockeries and shaded areas.
