It is an indoor-friendly ornamental plant hailed for its air-purifying properties that remove benzene, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene. In cultivation, it prefers bright indirect light with tolerance for some direct sun and requires well-draining soil such as a peat-based mix or peat/perlite/sand; keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged, watering when the top inch dries and ensuring drainage. Temperatures range from 18–27°C and average indoor humidity is tolerated, with slightly higher humidity benefiting health. Fertilize with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season, and repot every 2–3 years. Propagation is by stem cuttings with at least one node, placed in water or moist soil and kept warm and humid until roots develop. Prune to remove dead or yellow leaves and maintain shape, and monitor for pests such as spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Commonly grown as an ornamental for gardens and homes.
