Summary

Passiflora lutea, commonly known as Yellow passionflower, is a perennial vine native to the southeastern United States. It climbs or trails with tendrils to 8–20 feet, has three-lobed leaves and small greenish-yellow flowers, and produces purple-black berries. The plant attracts bees and butterflies and serves as a larval host for Gulf fritillary, Julia, and zebra longwing butterflies; a pollen source for Anthemurgus passiflorae.

It tolerates sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soils with steady moisture; it can grow in woodlands, thickets, and forest margins and is hardy across a broad range of climates. Propagation occurs by seed or cuttings; the plant is rhizomatous, capable of vegetative spread, and can be grown in containers, on trellises, or sprawling in the ground; it goes dormant in winter.
